Founders/senior leaders stay the escalation point for everything
Growth creates complexity - especially when it comes to people.
As your company scales, things that once worked start to break.
Managers are struggling - and it keeps landing back on you
Hiring and onboarding feels chaotic and inconsistent
People decisions feel reactive, not strategic
Employment law mistakes are costly - and easy to make without HR expertise
Great people start looking elsewhere
Bringing clarity, structure and calm to your people operations - so you can focus on everything else.

About me
I've spent the last decade building people functions from the ground up - most recently at a tech scaleup, where I grew the HR function from scratch through growth from 40 to 130 employees.
I introduced scalable systems, supported managers through rapid growth, and helped the business maintain outstanding engagement levels all the way through to a successful founder exit.
Now I work with founders & senior leaders to do the same - building the people operations, structure, and leadership support that genuinely scales with the business.
How I work
This is what having a Head of People feels like - without the full-time salary.
I work with a small number of clients at a time, embedding into your business as your Fractional Head of People.
You get a trusted person at your leadership meetings who thinks about people as a growth lever. Practical advice you can act on immediately. And a people function that keeps pace with your headcount.
Commercially minded
Systems and structure focused
Human & pragmatic
Modern & tech enabled
Is this right for us?
Not sure whether you need a Fractional Head of People? These are some of the questions founders often ask.
Who I work best with:
What does a Fractional Head of People actually do?
I typically work with founders and leadership teams who are growing quickly and want to build a people function they're proud of.
They care about creating a great employee experience, recognise the value of strong people foundations, and want practical support without unnecessary corporate process or bureaucracy.
Most are at the stage where people decisions are becoming more complex, managers need more support, and "figuring it out as we go" is starting to feel risky.
Think of it as having a senior people leader at the leadership table - without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire. Support typically includes people strategy, leadership guidance, hiring advice, manager development, employee experience, organisational planning, and helping founders navigate the people challenges that come with growth.
We're not ready for a full-time HR hire yet. Can you still help?
Absolutely. That's exactly where I work best. I partner with founders and leadership teams who need senior people expertise but don't yet need, or want, a full-time hire. You get strategic support, practical implementation, and a trusted sounding board without the cost or commitment of a permanent role.
When is the right time to bring in a Fractional Head of People?
Usually when people decisions are becoming more reactive than intentional. You might be growing the team, supporting new managers, navigating more complex people challenges, or finding that issues keep landing back with founders. A Fractional Head of People helps put the right foundations in place before those challenges start slowing growth.
What size businesses do you typically work with?
Most of my clients are startups and growing SMEs with between 10 and 100 employees, although I also support businesses outside that range when the challenges and timing are the right fit. The common theme is growth. The business has reached a stage where people, structure, and culture need more attention to support the next phase.
What's included in a monthly retainer?
Retainers are designed to provide ongoing strategic people support without the commitment of a full-time hire. Support can be as little as one day per month, increasing as the business grows and priorities evolve. Typical support includes leadership guidance, people planning, hiring advice, manager support, and a trusted sounding board for founders navigating growth. Larger projects are scoped separately.
What if we intend to eventually hire an in-house People/HR lead?
That's a success, not an endpoint. One of my goals is to help businesses build strong foundations and reach the point where they're ready for their first internal people hire. When that happens, I can support role design, hiring, onboarding, and handover to ensure a smooth transition.
Still have questions?
I'd be happy to talk through your current situation and whether fractional people support is the right fit.
